silver linings

its been a quick month
 a snowy month
and an icy/melty/icy month

looking for inspiration in the grey skies
and barren branches

embracing the color I am turning and knitting up a matching cocoon

and somedays, just hibernating

On Sunday mornings,

I like to keep a date with myself in my studio.

From 10-12 on my local public radio station there is a program called "In Tune by Ten".
It is an eclectic mix of acoustic, folk, indie sounds perfect for a Sunday.
The playlist almost always seems to match my mood.
I turn this on in my studio, bring a hot cup of coffee or tea and sit down with my journal and supplies.

There is no pressure to 'make' or 'finish' anything in particular in this session.

It is just a time to connect intuitively with the materials at hand.

I usually emerge from the studio refreshed and cheerful, just as my teens are finishing up their breakfasts.
Then it is on to the rest of our day.
I hope you enjoyed your weekend too!

a very windy day

Last week we had a little wind storm blow through town.  As I drove into the driveway, I could see the roof of the chicken run had torn off it's hinges, luckily the chickens were fine, but really noisy.  They kept on clucking with all their might until I bungeed their roof back down.

The cold frame on the other hand, did not fare as well.  L built it a few years ago with old storms when we replaced some windows on the house.  Glass EVERYWHERE!

Before we cleaned up I saw some interesting compositions, the last one is my favorite.
